Happy February, Academy Families!
We have some exciting opportunities coming up to see our Academy students perform!
This Saturday, March 1st, look out for our Academy students and teachers in the Columbia Mardi Gras parade! We’ll be walking in the parade and singing fun Mardi Gras songs. The parade starts at 11 AM and lasts about an hour. Keep an eye out for our Academy banner and cheer on our talented students as they bring some Mardi Gras spirit to the celebration!
On Saturday, March 15th, come see our Academy Irish Choir perform at St. Pat’s in Five Points!Students from Columbia Arts Academy, Lexington School of Music, and Irmo Music Academy will take the Kids’ Stage in the Andy’s Deli parking lot between 11 AM and 6 PM.
If you're at the festival, stop by and enjoy a fun, family-friendly set featuring Irish-themed selections and more. We’d love to see you there cheering on our incredible musicians!
Recital sign-ups will be open from March 1st through March 31st. Our 2025 Summer Recitals will take place at W.W. Hootie Johnson Performance Hall in the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, located at 1014 Greene St, Level 1.
The dates for our 2025 Summer Recitals are as follows: Week 1 will be Friday, June 20th, Saturday, June 21st, and Sunday, June 22nd. Week 2 will be Friday, June 27th, Saturday, June 28th, and Sunday, June 29th. To make the process easier, we’ve created a dedicated recital page with sign-up forms, dates, parking information, and maps. Visit www.columbiaartsacademy.com/recitals for all the details.
In case you missed it, due to severe winter weather and icy conditions, we were closed for lessons on Friday, January 10th, Tuesday, January 21st, and Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025. Lessons originally scheduled on those days will be rescheduled as private makeups during our upcoming Spring Break in April. Thank you for your understanding!

Musical Ladder System® Achievements!
The Columbia Arts Academy, Lexington School of Music, and Irmo Music Academy are the only Midlands music schools where students earn colorful wristbands, trophies, and certificates through the patented Musical Ladder System®, created by Academy Director Marty Fort and used nationwide. Some schools offer trophies and certificates, but none excite students like the Musical Ladder System® wristbands they proudly show off to friends.
